Priamo Pellicci began working in the cafe in 1900 and it was here that his wife Elide brought up their seven children single-handedly whilst running the cafe below to keep the family after her husband’s death in 1931. Elide is the E. Pellicci whose initial is still emblazoned in chrome upon the primrose – hued vitroglass fascia and her portrait remains inside the cafe, she and her husband counterbalance each other eternally on either side of the serving hatch in the cafe.
Mr. Nevio Snr., who was born upstairs, ran the business after Mrs. Elide Pellicci until he passed away in 2008. Mr. Nevio’s wife, Maria, is the head of the family business today. She has been cooking since 1966 and has natural charisma that makes her a perfect successor to Elide. Son Nevio Jnr., daughter Anna and cousin Tony make the Pellicci cafe family complete.
Pellicci’s boasts an ornate panelled wooden decor, carved by regular customer and carpenter Achille Capocci back in 1946. Thanks to his handiwork, Pellicci’s has now been awarded Grade II listed status by English Heritage.

Falafel Feast owner and founder Simi Goldberg, is an Israeli of Iraqi origin.
She has lived in London since 1994 and is married with 2 children.
In Falafel Feast she combines her inherited knowledge of cooking from her mother and her love of entertaining.
“Until I got married and had children I worked as a dental nurse, but when I was able to go back to work I looked for something different.
I dabbled in property at first, but then the market changed and I kept my eye out for a new idea.
Four years ago I had a birthday party where I cooked falafel and served it in pita with all the trimmings. My friends loved my falafel. They said it was the best they’d ever had, and they all said I should go into business and do falafel parties!
I mulled over the idea for a few months. My husband encouraged me, and told me that as I’m a natural cook and entertainer, I should just go for it – so I did! I had a launch with over a hundred people, got my first booking from that, and it has just snowballed from there.
The trailer idea came from watching food programmes on TV. There was one about food trailers in New York, and I thought it was brilliant as I could take my kitchen anywhere and wouldn’t have to rely on the client’s kitchen space to work in. Clients also like it because it’s a feature for their party. I even get people passing by, seeing the trailer in the drive, and knocking on my door asking for falafel!”

My name is Iyad Al-Faddayel. I Started Wassouf Lounge when I was twenty-five years old. I grew up listening to George Wassouf. Wassouf’s lyrics always impacted me because of his reflection on real life issues. I planned to open this business during the same time Wassouf was ill and in treatment. I called my business after Wassouf based merely on the thought that ” if Wassouf was able to sing again, I Iyad Al-Faddayel will definitely name my new business after him.” Thank God Wassouf is now in better health and that’s why we are here today.

Borough Market is situated in Southwark, near London Bridge, and is a bustling hub of foodie delights. We orginally began selling our Mersea oysters at the market in the early 2000’s, and saw the city’s love for our oysters grow. We have a permanent stand on Stoney Street, which enables us to provide a place for people to sit and slurp our delicious mollusc.
